'I regret my actions' – Conor McGregor gives statement outside New York court over bus attack charges

CONOR McGregor has given a statement outside a New York courthouse where he faces charges over an attack on a bus full of UFC fighters in April.

The UFC star appeared alongside fellow fighter and co-accused Cian Cowley during a 45-second hearing at Kings County Criminal Court in Brooklyn on Thursday.

McGregor's attorney told the judge that the Irishman is negotiationg a plea deal with prosecutors.

The pair's next court date was set for June 26.

McGregor was hit with multiple charges - including felony criminal mischief - for attacking a UFC bus at the Barclay's Center on April 5, injuring multiple people including fellow UFC fighters.

If convicted on all counts, the 29-year-old could face up to seven years in prison.

Speaking outside court this afternoon, McGregor said: "I regret my actions that led me here today.

"I understand the seriousness of this matter, and I am hopeful that this will get resolved soon."

McGregor's manager Audie Attar added: "Today we are focusing on the court and we are not going to focus on any future plans until we handle this matter.

"Right now we are in good negotiations with the district attorney."
