Rachael Blackmore's mother gives incredible interview following her daughter's dominance at Cheltenham

THE BEAMING smile of a proud Irish mammy. There's nothing like it.

Rachael Blackmore has been absolutely smashing it at Cheltenham this week, and that is putting it lightly.

Tuesday saw her become the first woman to win the coveted Champion Hurdle at the race festival.

Then, Thursday evening saw her strengthen her lead in the race to be top jockey at Cheltenham with victory on Telmesomethinggirl in the Parnell Properties Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at.

And Friday was no different at all for the Tipperary woman, starting off the day with a brilliant win on Quilixios in the JCB Triumph Hurdle.

Unsurprisingly, her mother is extremely proud of her.

Eimir Blackmore said: "It's been an absolute fairy tale. The amount of support she's been getting locally, my phone has literally melted.

"I feel immensely proud that she's giving people a bit of a lift at this awful time."

Somewhat understandably, Eimir said that she avoids watching the racing when she can, saying: "It's very hard when it's your own child."

Eimir is a teacher and used this interview as a chance to praise her students.

Lovely stuff.

Rachael Blackmore has made all of Ireland proud this week, and it's not difficult to understand why she got where she is when she has a mother like that.
