Rachael Blackmore receives congratulations from Ringo Starr and Billie Jean King

WHAT A 2021 this woman is having.

While 2021 hasn't been too kind to a lot of us, it's safe to say that things aren't going too badly for Rachael Blackmore.

The Tipperary woman made history twice this year so far, becoming the first woman to be crowned Top Jockey at Cheltenham, and has more recently become the first woman to ride a winner in the Grand National.

And while all of Ireland is obviously wishing her the best, she's also getting praise from some global superstars.

Speaking to Sky Sports, she revealed some of the biggest names who have congratulated her on making history.

"I don't think you get much more famous than Ringo Starr and Billie Jean King.

"It is incredible when those people are reaching out to wish you well and congratulate you on your achievements.

"It is hard to comprehend that they would even know my name. It is unbelievable. I have got so many well wishes from so many different people, people sending cards and letters that I don't even know. It is just fantastic support and everyone has been so kind".

After the historic Grand National win, she received congratulations from President Michael D Higgins, as well as An Taoiseach.

Speaking after the race, she said: "I don't feel male or female right now. I don't even feel human."

A real national treasure, making the country proud at every opportunity.
