Fermanagh 2-16
Lancashire 3-10
FERMANAGH'S hopes of reaching Croke Park remain on track after they blazed their way to victory over Lancashire.
Ciaran Corrigan’s goal midway through the first-half paved the way for a profitable afternoon for the Erne County, cemented by a fine display from midfielder John Duffy.
Of the four teams on show at Pairc na hÉireann, Fermanagh were the most impressive candidate for Lory Meagher success and their second goal shortly before the end of the match confirmed their place at the head of the pack when Barrie Duffy powered down the right to slot home beyond Paddy Duggan.
Wolfe Tones' Kelvin Magee threatened to spark a second-half fight back when rare slackness in the Fermanagh defence enabled the corner-forward to swoop from 10 metres out and beat Mark Curry. Curry had to be alert to deny Magee moments later, but he was unable to do anything when Magee snatched possession and sent in a teasing shot which eventually hit the net.
There was a moment of alarm minutes after Magee’s goal when a long ball into the goalmouth from Liam Knocker led to a frantic scramble for possession, in which Curry was injured on the goal line; thankfully the Fermanagh 'keeper got back to his feet as he was led away from the field, leaving his side to finish the game strongly and record their second win of the campaign.
