CLADDAGH GAELS of Luton celebrated a fantastic year at their 2nd Annual Gala Dinner on Saturday night, having won no fewer than six trophies in 2015.
The Chiltern Hotel in Luton was the venue for a night of celebration for Bedfordshire's only ladies Gaelic football club, with over 200 in attendance. Among the guests was former Mayo footballer Aidan Kilcoyne and Belmullet manager Nigel Reape.
The Claddagh Gaels club was formed in 2009 and has gone from strength to strength since then. 2015 saw the club win the Glo-Herts League and Championship, the Oxford and Bristol 7s competitions and the Erris Mini Tournament. They were also named the Luton Sports Team of the Year.
The club's biggest achievement this year was the development of the Claddagh Gaels Youth Squad, securing the future of the club for years to come.
Special thanks were paid to a number of supporters during the evening, including team Manager Bill Barrett and club sponsor Martin Maloney, both from Mayo. Claddagh Gaels went on tour earlier this year to Belmullet in Mayo and plans are underway for a tour to New York in 2017.
