PAUL O'Connell will return to the Ireland camp on Saturday to provide moral support for the remainder of their Rugby World Cup campaign.
The veteran's tournament has been cruelly cut short through injury but, having undergone surgery on his hamstring, he is set to meet back up with his team-mates in Cardiff in time for Sunday's meeting with Argentina.
Jamie Heaslip will captain the side on the field for the quarter-final clash at the Millennium Stadium, but O’Connell’s presence will provide a welcome boost for the dressing room.
The 35-year-old, who will join up with French side Toulon once recovered, is known to be just as influential off the field as he is on it, with his dressing room speeches already the stuff of legend.
Head coach Joe Schmidt will name his team on Friday afternoon and if Ireland can overcome Argentina it will be the first time they have reached the last four of a Rugby World Cup.
