PADDY POWER on Sunday decided to pay out on Liverpool winning the Premier League, a week before the big kick-off, following Klopp’s charges’ impressive 3-1 win in the Community Shield on Saturday.
With the decision made just before the final whistle, the losing Manchester City fans were goaded by the news leaving the stadium by ad-vans announcing the payout that Paddy Power had placed outside the King Power Stadium.
Liverpool sealed an impressive 3-1 win with goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and new-boy Darwin Nunez to lay down a massive marker with both sides likely to go head-to-head at the top of the table once again.
With the Reds proving popular with punters, after narrowly missing out on last year’s title, the payout amounts to a six figure windfall for customers who showed faith in Salah & Co.

Paddy Power, a spokesperson for Paddy Power, said “Some say the Community Shield is just a glorified friendly – but you won’t hear that at Paddy Power.
"Oh no, we take the traditional curtain raiser so seriously that we’ve decided to be ultra-generous and hit the big red button marked ‘Pay Out‘ to punters who backed Liverpool to win the 2022/23 Premier League title prior to them beating Man City at the King Power today.”
He continued “In the very unlikely event that we’ve called this wrong we’ll end up with some very expensive pie on our faces.”
