OKTAGON’s international press manager, Scott Lagdon, has claimed that hosting an event in Dublin is a real possibility in the future.
OKTAGON is a mixed martial arts (MMA) organization based in Central Europe. It is particularly well-known in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. OKTAGON MMA promotes professional MMA fights, featuring both local and international fighters, and has gained popularity for its well-organized events, high production quality, and engaging fight cards.
The organization hosts a series of MMA events throughout the year, providing a platform for fighters to showcase their skills and advance their careers. These events have been held in locations such as Newcastle, Frankfurt, Prague, and others to date.
MMA in Ireland has become extremely popular since Conor McGregor's emergence in the sport and since then fighters like Shem Rock and Dennis Frimpong, who are part of OKTAGON have aimed to emulate the Dublin native's achievements
A future OKTAGON event in Dublin would likely draw significant numbers, and Lagdon, an employee of the company, has not ruled out the possibility of hosting an event in Dublin.
“An event in Dublin? It’s always in the talks and is always in consideration for us, as we know how big of a hit our shows have been in England," said Lagdon in a press release.
“Pavol and Ondrej are probably in a better position to talk about it than me, but we know the energy an Irish crowd would bring and the enthusiasm they have for the sport.
“We also know the personalities our Irish fighters bring—just look at the energy and personality that Denis Frimpong brought during the OKTAGON Challenge.
“One thing is for sure, though, an OKTAGON event in Dublin would be incredible and could spark something special for the promotion in the country.
“Who knows, I could even see someone like Shem Rock headlining an event there if he continues the way he is going. I’m sure he’d know how to get the crowd going.”
OKTAGON 59 takes place this weekend, July 20, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Peugeot Arena in Bratislava.
