CONOR McGregor has responded with rage to the news that he is being stripped of his UFC lightweight title.
UFC president Dana White last night made the long-expected announcement that the Dubliner will lose his 155lb belt.
McGregor hasn’t fought in the octagon since he beat Eddie Alvarez to claim the title in November 2016.
His most recent competitive appearance was in a boxing match last August, in which he was defeated by Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Speaking at yesterday’s press conference in New York, White confirmed that the winner of this weekend's Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Max Holloway fight at UFC 223 will take McGregor's lightweight title.
He said: "No interim champ. When this fight is over... one of these guys will be champion.
"It would be awesome if Conor came [to Nurmagomedov vs Holloway]. This is a fight that is obviously very important to him and his future.
"It would be awesome if he does. But no, I don't think Conor has any plans to be here."
McGregor quickly took to Twitter this morning to respond, with a typically no-nonsense message aimed at UFC chiefs.
The 29-year-old wrote: "You’s’ll strip me of nothing you’s do nothing c**ts."
Also at the press conference, Dana White added he was "100%" certain that Conor would make his long-awaited return to the sport at some point this year.
"Conor McGregor is coming back this year 100 percent," he said.
"He will fight this year. We’ll see how this thing plays out and we’ll go from there.”
You’s’ll strip me of nothing you’s do nothing cunts.
