IT HAS emerged that Katie Taylor will not feature on Andy Lee’s world title defence in Limerick next month, contrary to reports last week.
The Olympic champion had been in negotiations with the event’s co-promotors – Adam Booth and Frank Warren – with initial talks believed to be positive.
An agreement was thought to have been made, but Lee's trainer Booth has now revealed that the parties were unable to come to an agreement in the end.
He said: “We believe we did everything we could to make this event happen but unfortunately on this occasion, the outcome was not to be.”
Other Irish boxers, such as Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan, are still rumoured to be taking part on the card, which takes place at Thomond Park on September 19.
