Midweek Betting Tips: My Spirit poised to triumph at Salisbury

Our tipster Karl Hedley tells you where to put your money this week

WEDNESDAY

SALISBURY

3-55       EBF STALLIONS UPAVON FILLIES STAKES (LISTED) – 1 M 1 F 198 YDS

My Spirit is undefeated this season and it would be of little surprise if that was to remain the case following this race. She was good enough to win against handicappers on her latest run and the form of that was boosted subsequently as the runner up (Sir Michael Stoute’s Asyad) went one better next time.  The duo pulled some five lengths clear of the remainder suggesting that the form was good.

Tearless followed up her debut win with a fluent success over this course and distance last time out. Adam Kirby is booked to ride once again and she looks to head a list of potential dangers.

Ribbons is a talented filly but she has been found wanting on her most recent starts, whilst this race represents a big hike in class for Kleo. William Haggas has trained some excellent fillies in the past and My Spirit could well be another.

KEMPTON

8-20       BETBRIGHT MOBILE NURSERY - 7 FURLONGS

Mudarif can make a bold bid to double up his career win tally following a convincing success over this course and distance just last week. He was backed as though defeat was out of the question on that occasion and he performed accordingly.

The step up to seven furlongs certainly brought out the best in this Zebedee gelding and with Seb Sanders once again in the saddle the duo can make the most of their previous experience on this polytrack surface.

Classic Seniority has to be considered the biggest threat given that his yard specialise in this type of race. His style of racing suggests that he ought to be better over this sort of trip and Richard Hughes will have him settled from an early stage.

Speedy Move seemed to improve for a step down to the minimum trip at Leicester last time where he saw off a decent field, whilst Spindle looks to have a far more difficult job on his hands than when a minor maiden at Southwell back in June. Mudarif looks like a youngster on the upgrade and he can go close here.

THURSDAY

SALISBURY

4-00       TOTEPOOL SOVERIGN STAKES (GROUP 3) – 1 MILE

Yuften ran the race of his life last time out and was second past the post when beaten a neck by Charm Spirit in the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly. He was disqualified in the Stewards Room subsequently and rightfully placed behind his rivals.

Yuften was only beaten a little over four lengths by Kingman in the St James’ Palace Stakes and a repeat any of those two most recent efforts would see him go very close here.

Richard Hannon has multiple entries here including Toormore, Professor and Producer. Toormore is the highest rated of those and on last season’s form he would certainly go close. This year he has been most disappointing though and he may well have gone off the boil. A bigger challenge could come from stable-mate Professor who has some excellent form at this track.

Custom Cut has been in the form of his life this season and comes here in search of a hat-trick of wins.  This is tougher than his usual opposition but he deserves a rise in grade. William Haggas has his team in excellent form and Yuften can deliver another decent prize for the yard.

FRIDAY

NEWMARKET

7-00       ADNAMS NEWMARKET NIGHTS HANDICAP – 1 MILE

Hot Mustard has shown a liking for rain softened ground and with the bad weather not showing any signs of abatement he has to be considered. He was only just touched off at Yarmouth on his latest start and having been a model of consistency so far this season, he has to be high on any shortlist. This return to a mile should be in his favour and the booking of Richard Hughes is certainly an eye-catching one.

Starlight Serenade is another that will not mid the conditions and is effective at the trip. Ralph Beckett has booked Silvestre De Sousa to ride and being a three year old filly, she will receive weight from the majority of her rivals and she looks the biggest threat to the selection.

Captain George is clearly improving and if handling the softer ground he too can make the frame. Hot Mustard is only two pounds higher in the ratings than for his last win and he can improve again.
