Mid-Week Betting Tips: Winter Queen poised for success at Kempton Park

Our tipster Karl Hedley provides the week’s odds

WEDNESDAY

KEMPTON PARK

7-25       BETDAQ 3% COMMISSION NURSERY – 1 MILE

Winter Queen put in her best performance to date over this course and distance just a little over a week ago and can go one better this evening. Cam Hardie was in the saddle for that last run and it is of note that Charlie Appleby has decided to use him again. This step up to a mile seemed to draw out a bit of improvement from the Welsh Pageant filly and she is certainly worth another go at it this evening.

Framley Garth is the highest rated in the line-up and also put in a career best performance last time out. That came on soft ground at Newmarket where he was doing all of his best work in the closing stages. This extra furlong looks sure to suit and with Silvestre De Sousa in the plate the combination have to command utmost respect.

Goolagong Girl finished in behind Winter Queen over this course and distance last time. She is not as exposed as some as she is only having the fifth run of her career and has definite possibilities of making the frame. Godolphin have not been having the best of times lately but Winter Queen looks to have been found a decent opportunity to shed her maiden status.

8-55       WIN 10,000,000 ON THE BETDAQ COLOSSUS FILLIES’ HANDICAP – 7 FURLONGS

Maria Bella became unstuck at Leicester last time on what was only her second ever start on turf. She now returns to a track where she has won her previous two races and she remains far from exposed. She has only had five career starts and she has never finished outside of the first three places. She does stay further than this seven furlong trip and William Buick will be sure to make sure of her stamina reserves.

Ishiamber has to give weight away all around to younger rivals but her liking for this surface certainly makes her a threat. She ran as though something was amiss in her last race at Pontefract and has not been seen since. If fully over those exertions she will be a major player.

Trucanini won this race a year ago but has not been in the same form since, whilst Interception is better over shorter trips. Maria Bella has proven that she can win on the back of a short break and it is unlikely that we have seen the best from her as yet.

THURSDAY

FFOS LAS

4-05       JUBILEE PARK HANDICAP – 1 MILE

Prince Jock made a more than pleasing seasonal reappearance at Gowran Park a fortnight ago where he kept on to finish third behind Gone Viral. He was giving almost a stone to the rivals that finished in front of him on that occasion so the performance can be marked up even more. Pat Shanahan does well with his runners when he takes them across the Irish Sea and the booking of Richard Hughes suggests that a big run can be expected.

Unison was successful over this course and distance earlier in the month and Steve Drowne is set to retain the ride. The four year old has as yet to finish outside of the first two places on his previous three visits to this track and he looks the most obvious danger.

Taqneen needed heavy ground to finally get off the mark at Thirsk last time but he had run some good races in defeat prior to that. Paul Hanagan should know a bit more about him this time around and they too can make the frame. Prince Jock is a seasoned veteran and he can expose any flaws that his younger rivals may have. He looks set to go well this afternoon.

FRIDAY

SANDOWN

1-55       ORLEANS NURSERY – 5 FURLONGS 6YDS

Profitable was only just touched off at Haydock on his most recent start when he bumped into a William Haggas improver in Squats. He still managed to finish in front of two smart juveniles on that occasion as Patience Alexander and Fuwairt finished some four lengths behind him. Despite having to carry top-weight this afternoon this son of Invincible Spirit likes to hear his hooves rattle and if allowed to dominate from the outset, he will prove difficult to catch.

Geological recorded a win at Brighton earlier in the season and he came back to somewhere near his best when runner up at Chester last time out. Richard Hughes has been booked to ride him for the first time this afternoon and on their local track they are a combination to be feared.

Perardua has not won outside of class five company and despite the assistance of Ryan Moore in the saddle she is overlooked this afternoon. Clive Cox looks to have found a decent opportunity for his youngster and with Adam Kirby back in the plate the duo should give a decent account.
