Mid-week Betting Tips: Emirates Joy set for big run at Kempton

Our tipster Karl Hedley provides the odds on the week's races

WEDNESDAY

KEMPTON

6-40       BETBRIGHT.COM MAIDEN FILLIES’ STAKES – 1 MILE

Emirates Joy ran well on her debut for Charlie Appleby over this course and distance and is expected to have come on in leaps and bounds for that appearance. She finished third on that occasion when behind stable-mate Momayyaz and the Jeremy Noseda trained Moonvoy.

The latter has come out and won a maiden subsequently so the form of the race is beginning to work out. William Buick has been picking up plenty of rides for this yard and she is preferred to stable-mate Spellbind.

Jacqueline Jouliac comes from a yard that certainly knows the time of day with their fillies. She has to overcome a near fifteen month absence but John Gosden can produce them following a break. The form of that debut run has also been franked subsequently and it will be of no surprise to see her put up the biggest challenge to the selection.

She’s Gorgeous has proved a bit frustrating on turf and now makes her debut on the polytrack. She could well improve for the switch of surface but she is vulnerable to less exposed sorts. Charlie Appleby has been back amongst the winners of late and Emirates Joy can add to that tally here.

8-10       BETBRIGHT.COM HANDICAP – 1 M 4 F

Mythical Madness is the least exposed runner in this line-up and should prove well suited for the slight step up in trip. He met trouble in running at Newbury on his most recent start when partnered by James Doyle and he should have a bit more time to find his stride this time around. Adam Kirby was on board for his only career success to date and it is of note that he has once again been engaged by Charlie Appleby.

Sleeper comes here in search of a four timer and she is at least proven over the course and distance. She is once again ridden by Andrea Atzeni and receives all of the allowances so has to head a shortlist of possible dangers.

Anglo Irish seems to enjoy racing on a polytrack surfaces as his three career wins to date have been here and at Lingfield. Will Buick has won on him once before and they too command utmost respect. Godolphin tends to do well with their handicappers at this track and Mythical Madness looks decent value to add to that this evening.

THURSDAY

SALISBURY

4-20       EBF STALLIONS BREEDING WINNERS “LOCHSONG FILLIES” HANDICAP – 6 F 212 YDS

Badr Al Badoor has been knocking on the door of late and put up a career best performance when finding only Morache Music too strong at Doncaster last time. Tom Queally has been booked by James Fanshawe to partner the four year old for the third time in succession and they can register a first win of the season.

Felwah has enjoyed a profitable handicapping campaign and stays at least this far. She is clearly adaptable having won on surfaces from soft to firm. This represents another rise in class for the filly but she receives beneficial allowances because of her age and sex.

William Haggas has his yard in excellent shape and she looks the biggest threat. Saucy Minx continues to be in good form but now races off a career high mark. Badr Al Badoor will appreciate the genuine good ground here and has the ability to go very close.

FRIDAY

KEMPTON

8-50       JOCKEY CLUB CATERING HANDICAP – 1 M 3 F

Astronereus was upped to a mile and a half trip for the first time on Shergar Cup day and he seemed to thrive on it. Had it not been for his jockey dropping her whip in the closing stages he would almost certainly would have landed the spoils given that he was only beaten a short head. Richard Hughes won on him at Newmarket back in July and it looks significant that Amanda Perrett has once again booked him to partner this son of Sea The Stars.

Long Cross may well prove to be the biggest danger. He improved for a step up in trip at Newmarket last time to deny Soviet Courage by less than a length. The front two pulled some eleven lengths clear of the remainder and that is usually a good sign.

Alex Vino seemed to be a non-stayer when upped in trip at Pontefract last time and despite winning his last two races at this track, Gone Dutch was beaten some twenty five lengths last time out at Newmarket. Astronereus has the profile of an improving horse and connections may well have found the right race to see him return to winning ways.
