Mid-week betting tips: Desert Snow can reign at Kempton

Our tipster Karl Hedley tells you where to put your money this week

WEDNESDAY

KEMPTON

7.20, BETBRIGHT.COM MAIDEN STAKES (1M 4F)

Desert Snow can shed her maiden status at the third time of asking. She was only just touched off here by The Corsican on what was her first attempt at this trip. She should have come on in leaps and bounds for that run and she can set the record straight for Saeed Bin Suroor and Kieran Fallon.

Fighting Back was not beaten too far on his only racecourse appearance to date. He was beaten four lengths but did have a trouble passage behind Kinshasa at this track and this further step up in trip should see more improvement from the son of Galileo and he looks a big danger. Montbazon is now a seven year old and is unproven on the polytrack. He looked slightly one-paced at Haydock last time and is vulnerable to younger and faster improving rivals.

Desert Snow however will know more this time around and she can go well.

9.20, BETBRIGHT — LIVE THE MOMENT HANDICAP (1 MILE)

Space Walker can take advantage of the three year old allowance that he receives in this race. He has improved since being upped in trip to this one mile trip and he has gone well here in the past. Dane O’Neill takes the ride for the first time this evening and it is likely that there is further improvement to come.

Barnmore has won his last two starts over this course and distance and rates as the obvious danger. Charles Bishop is back in the saddle this evening and they command plenty of respect despite edging up the ratings. Gravitational is not guaranteed to stay this extra furlong, but Toga Tiger could well make the frame not that he has slipped to an attractive mark.

Space Walker is far from exposed though and can make his presence felt here.

THURSDAY

HAYDOCK

5.20, SUPALITE TILED ROOF SYSTEM HANDICAP (1 MILE)

Sound Advice comes here on the back of two extremely good efforts at both Redcar and Carlisle. He had dropped to a very attractive handicap mark recently so it has been no surprise to see him go well. Tom Eaves has been the jockey on board for his two most recent wins and it is of note that he is once again the pilot this afternoon.

St Moritz has been around for what seems like an eternity. He has finally started to find his form again following a long spell in the wilderness. A change of yard seems to have brought about a new lease of life for him and he looks the main danger. Le Chat D’or was an easy winner on soft ground at Ayr a few weeks ago and he may struggle on this better going.

However Sound Advice deserves to get his head in front and should make a bold bid here.

FRIDAY

HAYDOCK

9.15, MUSIC HERE ON 8TH AUGUST HANDICAP (1 M 3F)

Headline News made a pleasing enough comeback at Windsor following a seven-month break. She was beaten by only two lengths by an already race-fit rival in Perfect Cracker and can improve for the run. She is versatile regarding ground conditions having won on both soft and firm surfaces in the past and she has to be high on any shortlist.

Mister Fizz is expected to come on for his seasonal reappearance where he too made an encouraging effort. He is proven at this trip and ought to provide the main resistance to the selection. Brigadoon will appreciate the drop back down in distance but is now racing off a career high mark and he may be best swerved.

Headline News though looks primed to run well and can go close.
