WEDNESDAY
SANDOWN
2-00 RACEHORSE SANCTUARY REMEMBERS MOORCROFT BOY HANDICAP – 5 FURLONGS 6YDS
Macdillon made a pleasing return to action last month with a smooth success over this course and distance. He saw off the likes of Indian Tinker and Tychaios on that occasion and the latter has come out to frank the form subsequently. A low draw is usually vital in these sprints at Sandown and with Macdillon being a three time course and distance winner he knows every blade of grass at the Esher track. Richard Hughes retains the ride on this Stanley Kittow trained eight year old and the duo ought to prove hard to beat.
Only Ten Percent has the best of the draw in stall one and has the talented Adam Kirby on board. They landed their first success together when this veteran of the fibresand won on turf for the first time last month. He is still well handicapped on the best of his old form and could prove a thorn in the side of the selection.
Rocket Rob is another with multiple course and distance wins to his name but he looks to have been drawn out of things this time around despite an ever decreasing handicap mark. Macdillon is still fresh compared to most of his rivals this afternoon and it will be no surprise to see him follow up that recent victory.
YARMOUTH
3-25 EBF AT THE RACES JOHN MUSKER FILLIES STAKES (LISTED) – 1 M 2 F 21YDS
Water Hole ran well in a higher graded race at Haydock last time and can use the experience to her advantage. She bumped into a couple of smart fillies in Fintry and the ultra-consistent Odeliz and she is well worth another chance. This slight step up in trip should suit and John Gosden is not a trainer that over aims with his runners. She clearly has ability and is once again partnered by Will Buick and the combination ought to go well.
Raskova was heavily punted at York last time and came within a neck of landing a monumental gamble. She took a significant step forward on that occasion and if running a similar race she could well provide the sternest of opposition. Ted Durcan has won on her before and they command respect.
Albasharah refused to race last time and clearly has her quirks. Godolphin have been in and out of form so much this season that she cannot be backed at short odds. The likes of Perfect Light and Pleasant Valley are stabled at talented yards, but this would be a massive leap on what they have shown so far and both need to step forward once again. Water Hole can make use of her weight for age allowance and land another good prize for the Newmarket handler.
THURSDAY
AYR
3-40 HILLHOUSE QUARRY SUPPORTING THE AYRSHIRE HOSPICE HANDICAP – 1 MILE
Anderiego remains well treated on the best of his old form and he is a more than capable handicapper on his day. David O’ Meara has his yard in excellent form and that was proven when Watchable landed a valuable handicap at The Curragh last weekend. Anderiego is somewhat of a York specialist but he has also won at Tipperary in the past proving that he can win elsewhere. The drier the ground, the better are his chances and he looks set to go well.
The biggest threats to the selection could come from a couple of locally trained runners in the shapes of Hanalei Bay and Push Me. Hanalei Bay is a previous course and distance winner who bounced back to form at Hamilton Park last time. Peter Makin knows him inside out and he is bound to be right in the thick of the action.
Push Me is another that is more than capable on her day and has won eight races spanning a sixty race career. This has been her best season to date having won three times including over this course and distance. Ian Jardine will have her well prepared for this and she too can make the frame. Anderiego represents a trainer and jockey with decent strike rates at this track and it will be of little surprise to see them add to them here.
FRIDAY
AYR
3-45 EBF STALLIONS HARRY ROSEBERY STAKES (LISTED) -5 FURLONGS
Al Fareej has been placed twice at this level in her recent outings and she can finally get her head in front now that Kieran Fallon takes over in the saddle. She was nailed right on the line by both Mind Of Madness and Moonraker at York but this looks less demanding and she can make amends. She can confirm form with the likes of Lightscameraction, Accipiter and Cool Strutter having already beaten them in the past and with her versatility regarding ground conditions she has to be high on any shortlist.
Squats has won three of his last four starts and has to rate as a likely danger. This will be his toughest test to date if lining up but he comes from a yard that can do little wrong at present. He likes to hear his hooves rattle on the turf so connections will be praying that any rain stays away.
Miss Mullberry represents Middleham Park Racing who often do well with their runners at this track. She has won her last two races with the minimum of fuss and is another that is capable of making the frame despite a significant rise in class. Kieran Fallon is the only jockey to have partnered Al Fareej to victory and his booking at this stage suggests that James Tate is expecting a bold effort.
