McCabe refuses to quash Lyon transfer links

Ireland captain Katie McCabe has not poured cold water on the rumours that she may be about to depart England for France.

McCabe has been linked with Lyon by The Athletic this weekend, and rumours have surfaced that the Dublin native may be heading to Lyon.

McCabe agreed to a new deal with Arsenal last year, and Lyon will face a battle to land the Ireland captain. The Dubliner was asked about a potential move in the Ireland camp ahead of their game with France today and claimed her full focus was on the Ireland team’s upcoming game.

“I’m here; I’ve obviously got full concentration on being with Ireland and our game preparation for tomorrow,” said the Dublin native on Sunday.

“I’ve seen the rumours, and for a club like Lyon to be interested, it’s really nice, but I’m an Arsenal player. I have been for a long time and have full respect for my Arsenal fans and teammates and the club as a whole, and that’s the way it’ll be.”

The ever-present Katie McCabe missed Ireland's 2-1 loss to England last weekend. The Arsenal star claims she is now back for selection for the France game later today.

“It was interesting from a different perspective; you’re involved in the game but can’t actually kick a ball,” McCabe added on Sunday.

“For me, it was just accepting my role in terms of obviously being in the stand, helping the team prepare as best as possible leading up to the game, and then supporting them on matchday as well.

“Of course, I would have loved to have been out there with the girls helping them, but again, my role was a little bit different that night. I’m happy to be back available for selection tomorrow.”

Ireland's game against France kicks off at 6pm
