Matt Doherty scored for Tottenham last night in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace

THIS WEEK IRISH PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYERS CAN'T STOP SCORING and the latest player to add himself to the ever growing list this week is Tottenham Hotspur's Matt Doherty.

Doherty scored the final goal in the 3-0 romp over London rivals Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. His low effort deflected off the outstretched Vicente Guaita.

Harry Kane also scored a brace and Heung-min Son scored on the night for Conte's men.

Doherty's goal comes days and a day after Evan Ferguson scored two goals in two games for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Before the World Cup the Dubliner had just made five starts in the Premier League this season with two of those coming in the two games since the Premier League returned.

However according to reports from Sky Sports today Doherty may leave the club in the January transfer window.

The Swords native spent the last two and a half years in north London after moving from Wolves and has been consistently linked with a move away.

Last April after a purple patch of goals, Doherty said that leaving was never an option. That club tance seems to have changed again according to Sky.

“I didn’t come close, I never had a conversation, nothing was ever said to me,” Doherty told Standard Sport. “From my point of view, I was led to believe that I wasn’t going anywhere. I don’t know if that’s the case, that is what my point of view was.

“You have thoughts at times that it wasn’t working out. I just decided that I wanted to train hard, and I wanted to play here."

"Why would I want to go anywhere apart from Tottenham? I thought if I keep training hard and I keep doing what the manager wants, the opportunity would come and it would be up to me to grasp the opportunity, and at the moment I seem to be doing that well. "

Let's hope it gets sorted by the time Ireland play France in March.
