London Vs Mayo TV preview to be filmed in Ruislip this Thursday

A ONE-OFF live TV special previewing next weekend’s London V Mayo Connacht final will be filmed at the Emerald GAA Grounds in Ruislip this Thursday (July 18).

Mad for Sam – London Calling will be broadcast live from Ruislip from 9pm until 11pm and will feature interviews with both teams; analysis from GAA pundits and input from GAA president Liam O'Neill.

Digital TV company IrishTV.ie will broadcast the event live on Sky channel 191 and the TV show will also be streamed around the world on their website, IrishTV.ie.

The show will also be available to subscribers to Setanta Sports, Premier Sports, Freesat, Eircom and UPC in Ireland and Britain.

The event is open to members of the public with tickets costing £20.

Commenting on the broadcast Pierce O’Reilly from IRISHTV.ie, stated it was an exciting time for London GAA and that they certainly deserved their time in the spotlight.

He said: “This live TV show will showcase London GAA to the world and acknowledge the wonderful work that has taken place in London to promote the GAA over the years.

“We want people everywhere to sit up and recognise the thousands of GAA people that have dedicated their lives to supporting one of the greatest amateur sports in the world in a foreign country.”

The TV special will look at the close links between Ireland and London with a special message from An Taoiseach Enda Kenny to be broadcast on the night.

Expert analysis will be provided by GAA football legend Willie Joe Padden, who is flying in from Spain for the occasion, while former Mayo GAA stars Pat Holmes and Colm McMenamin will look at the key battles and the likely outcome.

Another special guest on the night will be Antrim and Ulster GAA star and top GAA columnist Kevin Madden, who will outline how David can slay Goliath in the Connacht Football Final.

London GAA stalwarts, club members, players and supporters will also feature prominently.

Commenting on the broadcast GAA President Liam O’Neill stated “The London senior football team has lit up the GAA Championship this summer and I want to compliment everyone involved for their commitment and constant support.

“London GAA players, supporters and clubs are passionate about the GAA and their success this year echoes that dedication over the years.  This is truly an historic occasion for London GAA and I want to wish them well in the Connacht Football Final.”
