MAYO man Danny Ryan is treating the visit of his home county as “just another game” as he prepares to line up for London today.
The St Kiernans half-back was part of the 2013 squad that were beaten by Mayo in the Connacht final that year, but he never featured in the game.
However, he does have the experience of mentally preparing to face his own county, and now that he’s a bigger part of the London set-up, his mind is at ease.
“It’s just another game, that’s the way I’m looking at it,” he told The Irish Post. “You just put it out of your mind and kind of forget about it.”
With London under new management this year, Ryan is grateful the Exiles were able to replace the experience of Paul Coggins with a different kind of professional-like approach.
“Paul Coggins had a great time in charge, getting London to the Connacht Final in 2013, but Ciaran is also a man of great experience,” he said.
“He’s captained Wexford in an All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park; he’s been involved with Queens Park Rangers and he brings that professionalism to our current set-up. It was very important for us to get someone in of that stature in after Paul left.”
