London Irish player George Robson banned for grabbing opponent’s testicles

LONDON IRISH lock George Robson has received a six-week ban after admitting to intentionally grabbing an opponent by the testicles.

The incident took place on November 5 in the Exiles’ top-of-the-table clash with Yorkshire Carnegie, with Ollie Stedman his victim.

At an RFU disciplinary hearing on Wednesday, former Harlequins player Robson, 31, pleaded guilty and the ban means he is unavailable to play until Wednesday, December 28.

An RFU statement read: "The charge against George Robson of London Irish for acts contrary to good sportsmanship, contrary to Law 10.4(m), was heard at the Twickenham Stoop this evening (Wednesday).”

Irish, who won the game 41-17, are currently top of the Greene King IPA Championship with eight wins from eight games, with Carnegie their nearest challengers some six points behind.
