LONDON Irish are ‘exploring the possibility’ of staging a Premiership rugby game overseas next season.
It is believed that the Exiles are keen to play a fixture in New York around St Patrick’s Day.
Negotiations are expected to continue with Premiership Rugby, USA Rugby, London Irish and their commercial partners in New York.
A London Irish spokesperson said: "The Club is exploring the possibility of playing a Premiership game at an alternative venue. As soon as details are confirmed we will communicate with our supporters."
Fixtures for the 2015/16 Premiership season are due to be published on July 3 with a match at MetLife Stadium, home of NFL teams the New York Giants and the New York Jets, a distinct possibility.
