London Irish confirm management structure

LONDON Irish’s new Head Coach Tom Coventry will start working with the Exiles in July at the end of the Super Rugby season.

Assistant coaches Grant Doorey and Craig Laidlaw will also take up their roles then while London Irish have confirmed the club’s management ticket for the 2015/16 campaign.

Glenn Delaney, who has acted as Interim Head Coach, will become Head of Rugby Operations, while the popular Richard Whiffin, on the London Irish staff since 2005 initially as an analyst and more recently as backs coach, continues as an assistant coach.

Rob Palmer has also been promoted to Head of Strength and Conditioning.

Bob Casey, London Irish Operations Director, is looking forward to getting ready for the start of the Aviva Premiership on October 17.

“We are pleased that Tom Coventry and his team will now be available for the start of pre-season as we originally planned for his arrival after the Rugby World Cup,” Casey said. “With an earlier start date now confirmed, we can build towards the start of the Aviva Premiership on October 17 with a full coaching complement.

“Glenn Delaney has demonstrated that he has the skills, character and capabilities required to succeed in the role of Head of Rugby Operations and we’re pleased he is moving in to that demanding position.

“Richard and Rob have both worked extremely hard during their time at the club and have always been valued members of their respective departments. They thoroughly deserve to progress and will continue to drive the club forward.

“We are excited about the new rugby structure at London Irish and are confident that it is the right model to move the club forward to achieve our long term goals.”
