BOXER Mickey Joe Teahan has been forced to postpone his professional debut because of injury to his opponent.
'The Irish Londoner' was due to take on David James Thomson in London's iconic York Hall this Saturday, but a knee injury has forced Thomson to pull out.
Teahan, who is based in Hounslow, now looks likely to make his professional debut away from home, with his promoters Wiseguys hoping to get him on a bill in Scotland in the next few weeks.
“I'm very disappoint because I thought I had his number, I was confident I was going to go in there and do good job, put on a show and take him out in the first and second,” Teahan told The Irish Post.
“But now it's back to the drawing board, so I'll keep training and preparing .”
The next Wiseguys promotion will be at York Hall in Bethnal Green in August and Teahan expects to be on that bill after getting some experience in the pro ranks.
“It won't be my debut because I'm going to get a fight in before that, but it'll be like a sort of homecoming and I hope to get a big crowd down for it, because it's a ticket seller's game so you need to get people behind you.
“I need to get as many fights as I can under my belt and even if I have to go up to Scotland every once and a while, so be it. If I can start getting a record of 3-0, 4-0, then people might start taking notice of me.”
