FORMER England under-19 boss Sean O’Driscoll has been appointed as Liverpool’s new assistant manager.
The 58-year-old takes over the role as Brendan Rodgers’ number two from Colin Pascoe, who was sacked last month following an end of season review.
O’Driscoll, who has previously managed Bristol City, Doncaster Rovers, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, leaves his role with England after only nine months.
"I am excited to be joining one of the world's most iconic football clubs,” he said.
“The hallmark of any successful club is its culture and that comes from the people who work there, from the chief executive and first-team manager to those people behind the scenes whose faces may not be known but who are the lifeblood of the club.”
O’Driscoll will be joined on the coaching staff by Pepijn Lijnders, who will take up the new position of first-team development coach.
Rodgers explained that O’Driscoll’s appointment could take the club in a technical direction.
"I am looking forward to working with him and also learning from his experiences and gaining valuable knowledge from his expertise,” he said.
