LEAGUE of Ireland Premier Division side Limerick FC have gathered worldwide publicity after announcing the signing of Barry Cotter, a dead ringer for Brazilian superstar Neymar.
The teenager’s unveiling has gone viral as publications worldwide have picked up on his resemblance to Neymar, who forms one third of Barcelona’s deadly frontline alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
However, instead of the Champions League, Cotter will play in Ireland’s Under-17 National League, and the confident 16-year-old is hoping to make a name for himself on the field as well as off it.
“I’m delighted, I’m happy that they’ve signed me and I’m just hoping for a brighter future,” the Irishman told Limerick’s official website.
“It’s massive, I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity at this stage of my career. I’m hoping to get one or two goals in each game during the rest of the season.”
Cotter, who has previously played in Clare with Avenue United and Ennis Town, has had his face plastered over major media outlets, from BBC in Britain to Fox Sports in America.
