Kerr reveals he has had no contact with Pats boss Stephen Kenny

Former Ireland boss Brian Kerr has claimed that he has not spoken to Stephen Kenny since Kenny took the St. Patrick's Athletic job last year and there has been no attempt to do so either.

Kerr, who is a fan favourite at Pats and an ever-present figure at games, said in 2021 that he wasn't overly impressed by Stephen Kenny while speaking on Virgin Media.

The Ireland boss took umbrage with the fact that Kenny was talking about building a squad for 2024 back in 2021, finding this "extraordinary."

The relationship between the pair has grown sour, with Stephen Kenny even admitting last year that there wouldn't be any attempts on his end to find a solution to the issue.

"Listen, he goes to the games and that’s a big part of his life, but I don’t think we’ll be meeting for cups of tea or coffee. I don’t think ‘fine’ would be the word, but certainly, I haven’t seen Brian in a long time. We had a very good relationship for a long period, but that’s the way life is," said Kenny last year

Kerr was asked about the rift this week and mentioned to the Irish Independent that he didn't have an issue with Kenny and that he will be going to games regardless of whether Kenny is the Ireland boss or not.

“I don’t have any differences with Stephen. I’ve not spoken to him,” says Kerr.

“But I go to the matches, and I’ll still be going to the matches next year and the year after. If Stephen is still there with his five-year contract and then he goes, I’ll still be going after him. I don’t have any problem with Stephen."

The 71-year-old has also revealed that he never got involved with the Ireland boss and that Kenny never sought his help during his Ireland reign. This isn't something that Kerr has or will be losing sleep over, added the former Ireland boss.

“The managers of Pat’s, up to now, I didn’t get involved with them. I’d talk to them maybe in the early stage if I met them, ‘I’m around if you need any help.’ Stephen never thought that that was the case. He probably wouldn’t. It’s up to him. It’s not something to get upset about.”
