Katie Taylor's fight last weekend was seen by 1.5 million viewers worldwide and in 170+ different countries confirm DAZN

THE HISTORIC fight between Ireland's Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano was viewed by 1.5 million viewers according to sports broadcasting giant DAZN.

The fight was held in Madison Square Garden and become the first venue to headline a female boxing match.

Ireland's Taylor beat the Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano by split decision in a fight for the ages.

DAZN posted on their social media account and said: "Fans tuned in on DAZN across 170+ markets worldwide to make the April 30 even the most watched female headlined boxing broadcast ever in history."

They also revealed that people from 170+ different countries watched the fight.

Speaking about what comes next for Taylor Eddie Hearn mentioned Croke Park as one of the next arenas, but admitted that it would be difficult to do.

"A rematch would be absolutely phenomenal and if it was in Dublin, we could sell out Croke Park.

"We saw something special tonight, imagine what could happen in front of 80 or 90 thousand. Absolutely it could happen."

Hearn also suggested that a fight could be set for some time just after the summer of this year.

"It would be a great shame if she didn't get a chance to fight in Ireland during her career, so if we could do that, back end of the summer," added promoter Eddie Hearn.

The problem is to go to Croke Park you really have to go at the end of August, the latest first week in September is pushing it so, he told the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Hour

It is quite a fast turnaround,"

"I mean, for a fight at the end of August you've got to start training in June.

You've got a month, it's not ideal.

But also if it was the difference for Katie between fighting at Croke Park and not fighting at Croke Park then we'll look at it."
