Katie Taylor thanks 'amazing' Irish support after her loss

Despite losing to Chantelle Cameron on Saturday, Katie Taylor has thanked everyone for supporting her in Dublin at the 3Arena. Taylor and Cameron competed for the Super Lightweight title, and it was Cameron, the native of Northampton, who emerged victorious.

Cameron displayed a more aggressive approach throughout the 10-round contest, securing a majority decision win (95-95, 96-94, 96-94) and retained all her titles. This defeat marked Taylor's first since the 2016 Olympics.

A packed 3Arena, filled with Irish supporters, witnessed the bout, and Taylor expressed her gratitude for the love and support they demonstrated on Saturday.

"Not the result or performance I wanted last night (Saturday), but incredibly grateful to everyone for the amazing support. Beidh mé ar ais arís," Taylor shared on her Instagram.

While the possibility of a rematch with Amanda Serrano this year is being considered, another bout with Cameron is also being contemplated. No final decisions have been made yet.

"Congratulations to Chantelle on a fantastic performance. Thanks so much for the opportunity to fight for your belts, and looking forward to the rematch," Taylor added.

Cameron has also mentioned the potential rematch, but she emphasized that the rules would be different next time.

"Katie's such a great boxer; she's going to want the rematch," said the Northampton champion. "But now it's on my terms."
