BEVERLEY

2-20       TOTESCOOP6 BEVERLEY BULLET SPRINT STAKES (LISTED) – 5 FURLONGS

Dikta Del Mar was a listed winning juvenile in her native France and was then subsequently sold out of that yard. She has made the frame in decent company since joining Tom Hogan and her run behind Monsieur Joe last time suggested that she may be about to strike a first win for new connections. As a three year old and a filly, she is set to receive allowances from all of her rivals this afternoon.

Maarek would be a massive danger on the best of his old form. The general consensus these days is that he needs soft ground to be seen at his very best. The booking of Jamie Spencer certainly catches the eye on the eight year old though and the jockey has a more than useful twenty five percent strike rate at this track. Line Of Reason was beaten a neck and a head in this race last season but comes here on a career high mark but he looked completely out of place in a Group One at York last week and he will need to have left that run well and truly behind in order to get involved here.

Dikta De Mar has a good draw in stall five and it will be of little surprise if she can turn around the recent form with Iffranesia. Ben Curtis has partnered her twice in the past and connections will be hoping that there is a good bit of give in the ground to see this daughter of Diktat at her very best.

NEWMARKET

2-50       FLY EASYJET FROM LONDON SOUTHEND AIRPORT HANDICAP – 1 M 5 F

Farquhar seems to be slowly but surely be coming back to himself. He managed to split two decent Godolphin horses at this track a fortnight ago and the way he finished that day suggested that an extra furlong would not pose any problems. Andrea Atzeni takes the ride on the four-year-old for the first time and Peter Chapple-Hyam will be hoping for another big Saturday winner at his local track following the success of Buckstay last month.

Kinema has run very well on his last couple of outings including when runner up in a tough little handicaps at Ripon and Nottingham. He beat any amount of these in that last race including the likes of Karraar, Spectator and Leaderene and there are no obvious reasons as to why any of those rivals should reverse the form. Alan Swinbank has his team in good order and Kinema looks to be the biggest threat to the selection. Retirement Plan got better with each race last season and certainly has live each way claims here if he is fit enough to do himself justice. He stays a lot further than this so expect plenty of use to be made of his stamina.

Farquhar has the beating of Kinema based on their previous meeting at Haydock last season. He has also seen off Magic Dancer and Our Gabrial in the past and can do so yet again. With conditions expected to suit, this son of Archipenko is expected to put in a good effort.

3-25       STOBART CLUB AND CLUB LISTED STAKES – 6 FURLONGS

Wet Sail showed dramatic improvement from his first run of the season to be beaten less than two lengths at Chester last time where he in turn saw off the re-opposing Portamento. He is fully entitled to improve again and having had only a handful of runs in his life, it is unlikely that we have seen the very best from him. Andrea Atzeni ought to know a bit more about his partner this time around and they command utmost respect in a race that sees plenty of exposed types line up in opposition.

Lucky Kristale looked to be nearing a return to form when she was just touched off in a Group Three race at York last time. She has tried and failed to recapture her profitable juvenile days but this significant lowering in grade could spark a much needed revival. She is reunited with Tom Queally this afternoon and they are likely to give the selection the most problems given that they are set to receive a couple of pounds from him. Portamento has maintained a good level of form throughout the summer and he too is likely to be amongst the places.

Wet Sail was purchased by Qatar Racing for a hefty sum and the trainer will be keen to get a first win on the board for the new owners in the yard. This looks to be an excellent opportunity for Wet Sail as the ground is unlikely to be as cumbersome to him as it will be to others.
