NEWMARKET

2-50       BRITISH EBF FILLIE’S NURSERY – 6 FURLONGS

Blossomtime is a previous course and distance winner who looks to have gone from strength to strength for Charlie Appleby. She has been quickly away in her last two starts and that has allowed her to dominate from the outset. The form of her most recent win over this course and distance has already been franked by the third placed Lady Macapa and there should be more to come from this daughter of Shamardal.

Dutch Mist comes here in search of a four timer. She has rattled up those successes at Thirsk and Catterick and now takes a deserved step up in class. The yard have utlilised the services of amateur jockey Gary Halpin and he is able to claim five off pounds from his partner. The duo look set to go well and may prove a thorn in the side of the selection. Hugo Palmer is enjoying his best ever season and he sends Ediye into battle here.  Recent big successes have included Covert Love winning the Irish Oaks just last weekend and Galileo Gold claiming a Group Two race at Goodwood. The yard are certainly firing on all cylinders and this youngster cannot be ruled out.

Blossomtime is locally trained and represents a yard with a decent strike rate here. There should be more to come from this well-bred juvenile and she is likely to make her presence known.

GOODWOOD

3-10       QATAR NASSAU STAKES (GROUP 1) – 1M 1F 192 YDS

Star Of Seville bounced back to form at Chantilly when taking the Prix De Diane and that race was over slightly further than today’s trip. Her trainer John Gosden knows exactly what it takes to win this Group One having won the last three renewals with the likes of Sultanina, Winsili and The Fugue. Frankie Dettori keeps the ride on this Duke Of Marmalade filly and with stamina assured, she has to be high on any shortlist.

Diamondsandrubies may have been beaten by Legatissimo in the Oaks, but she enacted bittersweet revenge when getting up by a head to win the Pretty Polly Stakes at The Curragh. Seamie Heffernan is back on board and they should make another bold bid to make it four wins from just seven career starts and they look the main dangers.  Legatissimo has had luckless runs on her two most recent outings. She is a talented filly who just needs things to go her way for a change. She too will be hard to keep out of the frame.

Star Of Seville was interfered with something shocking at Epsom and failed to give her true running. She proved that run all wrong with that convincing win at Chantilly and there should be more to come.

3-45       QATAR STEWARDS CUP (HERITAGE HANDICAP) – 6 FURLONGS

Tatlisu could well land another sprinting trophy for Richard Fahey this season. This improving five year old gets in off a light weight here and was beaten only two short heads in the consolation Stewards Cup last season. This son of Red Clubs has won on a variety of surfaces and won a similar event at Doncaster earlier in the year. He has maintained that good form throughout the season and his run following a couple of months off at Hamilton last time should have him pretty much spot on for this.

Magical Memory won in the style of a good animal when coasting home by a couple of lengths at Newmarket last time. He has only had eleven career starts and could well be open to further improvement. Charlie Hills has his string in decent order and they look to be one of the bigger threats to the selection. Huntsmans Close is another that has been holding his form well this season. He is well used to big handicaps and looks set to produce yet another big run here. The move to Roger Charlton’s yard has clearly rejuvenated him and he too commands utmost respect. Poyle Vinnie caused somewhat of an upset when he overcame a double figure price to beat Tatlisu at Hamilton last time. He has an extra six pounds to carry this time around and may struggle to repeat that performance.

Tatlisu represents a stable that are in red hot form at present. George Chaloner has won on him previously and despite a career high mark he warrants his place in this field. A lot of rivals are woefully out of form and with his previous experience of this track likely to stand him in good stead, he looks a viable each way proposition.
