John W Henry, an owner of Liverpool Football Club has confirmed Liverpool will not be sold

John W Henry, an owner of Liverpool football club and Fenway Sports Group confirmed on Monday that he would not be selling the Liverpool Football Club after months of speculation.

The Boston-based owner have been in charge at Anfield since a £300m takeover in October 2010, but talk of a sale or an investment did the rounds on social media last November.

The statement back in November read, "There have been a number of recent changes of ownership and rumours of changes in ownership at EPL clubs. And inevitably we are asked regularly about Fenway Sports Group’s ownership in Liverpool.

“FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third party seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said that before under the right terms and conditions we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club.

“FSG remains fully committed to the success of Liverpool, both on and off the pitch.”

Since them claims of interest from wealthy backers from the UK, the middle east, America, and other parts of the world have been linked with buying the famous English giant.

However, the speculation was to put to bed on Monday, when Henry speaking to the Boston Sports Journal said , “I know there has been a lot of conversation and quotes about LFC, but I keep to the facts: we merely formalised an ongoing process,” said Henry about November’s decision to explore the market for investors.

He also went onto to say that selling the club would not be off the table in the future

“Will we be in England forever? No. Are we selling LFC? No. Are we talking with investors about LFC? Yes," added the 73-year-old

“Will something happen there? I believe so, but it won’t be a sale. Have we sold anything in the past 20-plus years?”
