Jeff Hendrick appears in Dublin court over 'violent disorder' charge

IRISH international Jeff Hendrick has been remanded on bail after appearing at a Dublin court charged with violent disorder.

The 23-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, September 8 and charged with an alleged offence that took place outside a nightclub at Harcourt Street in the city centre on October 12 last year.

He appeared at Dublin District Court shortly after his arrest.

Garda Damien Beakey told Judge Anthony Halpin Mr Hendrick was charged at Pearse Street Garda Station at 3.46pm.

The Derby County midfielder did not reply to the charge after caution and was handed a copy of the charge sheet.

It was added that no injuries were alleged in connection with the incident.

The Director of Public Prosecutions in Ireland decided summary disposal of the case, which means it can be dealt with at district court level.

A trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court could impose greater potential sentencing powers.

Garda Beakey said there was a co-accused who was due to appear in court in October, and Judge Halpin adjourned Mr Hendrick's case to the same date.

Mr Hendrick has been excused from attending the next hearing as Derby County have an away fixture the following day.

He was one of a number of men arrested by gardai investigating the alleged incident.
