HIS RECORD speaks for itself.
Ireland's lack of goals is no secret. Our most recent international break saw us grab a total of two goals in three games, one from James McClean, and one from Alan Browne.
And though the football is slightly improving under Stephen Kenny, we need to start creating more chances, and putting them away.
This might be where Jamie McGrath comes in.
The 24-year-old signed for St Mirren from Dundalk back in 2020, and is having an excellent season for the Scottish side.
The Meath lad has bagged himself 14 goals in the league already, and that's playing from a midfield position.
His manager at St Mirren recently implored Kenny to give the young man a call up, saying: "The Republic of Ireland team is crying out for goals and creativity. Stephen Kenny has a hard enough job without me telling him who to pick but Jamie supplies both.
"I think he deserves to be in there ahead of some of the others currently in the squad. He sets the standards in training and if he can keep doing what he is doing he hopefully gets the recognition he deserves from the FAI.
"His first goal on Saturday was outstanding in terms of his technique and his composure. With no disrespect to anyone else, he is easily the best player I’ve ever worked with as a manager."
Extremely high praise from his gaffer. Surely Stephen Kenny will take notice soon enough.
