Irishman Denis Frimpong booked his spot at Oktagon 48

OKTAGON Challenge: England vs Ireland has been capturing the attention of UK and Ireland’s MMA fans for the past 6 weeks.

The show is an intense competition that tests eight athletes to the limit as they fight their way through a tournament bracket with the ultimate aim of becoming the winner of the show and subsequently, one of the best prospects in Europe.

Last night, Team Ireland’s Denis Frimpong confirmed his spot with victory over Team England’s Beau Gavin in what is being dubbed as an instant classic.

The pair wasted no time getting down to business, with both coming out swinging from the first bell. Liverpudlian Gavin dropped Frimpong in the first round, finishing on top and arguably edging what was an extremely competitive first round.

As the fight went on, Frimpong was able to use his range and distance management to control the fight and cause Gavin some serious damage in the process, swinging the result back in his favour.

The fight epitomised exactly what OKTAGON Challenge has been about: non-stop action and exhilarating fighting spirit. Gavin left the fight with a broken arm, dislocated shoulder, and requiring 4-stitches in his head, while Frimpong, who has been known for his trash-talk throughout, proved that he is able to back up the talking with his fighting skills.

The fans showed their appreciation to both fighters in the comment section:

Frimpong has now booked his spot at OKTAGON 48, where he will open up the main-card on November 4th. His opponent will be George Staines, as the formidable Englishman submitted Irish fighter, Armand Herczog in the first round.
