EVERTON'S Irish contingent will be disappointed after conceding a late defeat against Chelsea, while Shane Long was on fine form for the Tigers.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Hull City secured a 4-0 victory away at Cardiff City with Nikica Jelavic striking twice. Shane Long may have not netted the ball this weekend, but he was in impressive form and picked up his first assist in the Tigers’ second goal.
Everton were able to hold Chelsea to a scoreless draw for the whole 90 minutes, but suffered a late defeat with John Terry scoring the winner in stoppage time. James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman both had solid performances for the Toffees.
CHAMPIONSHIP
Joe Mason scored his second goal of the season for Bolton Wanderers as they defeated Watford 2-0, helping his side move six points clear of relegation.
Wigan Athletic’s 2-1 away win at Brighton and Hove Albion places them within a point of the playoffs. James McClean provided a continuing threat for the visitors and Chris McCann headed in the Latics' second.
Republic of Ireland Under-21 captain Shane Duffy’s strong performance in defence helped Yeovil Town increase their chances of survival with a clean sheet and 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers, who also find themselves at risk of relegation.
Blackpool’s Andy Keogh scored the opener against Birmingham City after 22 minutes, but the visitors came from behind to win 2-1 against 10-man Blackpool.
LEAGUE ONE
Jack Grealish and Alan Sheehan’s goal each for Notts County was not enough, after the Magpies squandered an early 2-0 lead against Shrewsbury Town, who then scored three goals, with David McAllister claiming the winner.
Crawley Town claimed a 2-1 victory against Walsall, despite Billy Clarke being sent off in the final half hour. The victory sees Crawley stay just two points clear of relegation.
LEAGUE TWO
John-Joe O'Toole scored his 12th league goal of the season in Bristol Rovers' 2-0 win over Burton Albion, hampering Burton's chances of promotion.
Republic of Ireland international Paddy Madden was on target as Scunthorpe United defeated Portsmouth 5-1, while on-loan Mikey Drennan’s late goal for Pompey provided little comfort.
David Connolly scored his third goal in six games since joining Oxford United on loan, scoring the opener in their 1-1 draw at Morecambe.
SCOTLAND
Anthony Stokes put in a strong performance up front, following his hat trick last weekend, as the Bhoys defeated Hearts 2-0 and increased their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 24 points.
Gavin Gunning returned from injury to net the ball twice for Dundee United in their 3-1 victory over Motherwell to keep their hopes of a Europa League place alive.
Adam Rooney scored a consolation goal for Aberdeen in their 3-1 loss to Partick Thistle.
