AS SNOW and ice hits the UK, flights to and from Heathrow airport have been cancelled.
Today's challenge between Ireland and England in Twickenham has seen hundreds of fans leaving the Emerald Isle to see the boys in green win against their British counterparts.
Today's date being St. Patrick's Day is set to only whet the appetites of the Irish party-goers, even more, giving them an extra reason to celebrate after the match.
Some fans travelling to the UK may have their weekend plans dashed, as according to Evening Standard, multiple flights to and from London have been cancelled due to the snow and ice setting in the UK.
A spokesperson for Heathrow airport gave a statement: "Poor weather conditions are forecast across parts of the UK across the weekend, so we have merged a small number of flights travelling to or from Heathrow Airport.
"We are working closely with our on-site Met Office to monitor the further snowfall expected throughout the weekend.
"As always, we advise passengers to check their flight status with their airline before coming to the airport."
Airlines included in the cancellations are Aer Lingus, TAP Air Portugal and Lufthansa.
"During cold weather conditions aircraft have to be de-iced prior to departure to ensure that they are safe and additional measures are taken to ensure the safety of our operation is maintained at all times."
