Irish racehorse Mr Boss Man helps earn punter a life-changing payout

AN Irish-trained racehorse has helped a 34-year-old man from Southampton land a massive £245,000 win off a £30 bet.

Mr Boss Man, an eight-year-old charge of Dublin-based trainer Adrian McGuinness, was one of seven winners on Wednesday’s card at Wolverhampton.

The mystery punter, who is a mechanic, wishes to remain anonymous after picking all seven winners in an accumulator bet.

Married with three children, he is planning on buying his first house with the winnings.

“I chose the horses based on their names,” he told William Hill, with whom he placed his bet online.

“I looked at ones who were favourites and selected them at random based upon names that I liked. I was watching the results come in and after the first three had won, I started texting the wife. When the seventh had won, I was jumping around the place. It’s the biggest high I have ever had.”

Despite the life-changing amount of money, he is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

He added: “I’ll be working this weekend and I don’t plan on telling many people, else they’ll all be wanting discounts!”
