Ireland's Caelan Doris has been nominated for the World Rugby men’s player of the year award.
Ireland and Leinster star Caelan Doris has been included in the nominations for the World Rugby men's player of the year award.
The Mayo native is a well-established member of Andy Farrell's side. Doris has also recently been made captain of the national team for the Autumn Nations Series.
He joins the likes of the trio of Eben Etzebeth, Cheslin Kolbe, and Pieter-Steph du Toit, three South African World Cup winners in the shortlist

If Doris does beat the South African's to the award, it will mean that he will become the fourth Irish player to win the award. Former Ireland internationals Keith Wood (2001), Johnny Sexton (2018), and current player Josh van der Flier (2022) are the other winners.
In other news, James Lowe’s first try against England in the Six Nations is nominated for Try of the Year. Erin King is up for Women’s Breakthrough Player of the Year, Ireland’s Terry Kennedy is nominated for Sevens Player of the Year, and Ireland and Leinster back Jamie Osborne is on the four-man shortlist for Breakthrough Player of the Year.
Fans will also be given their say on the outcome, with online voting open until November 20 at 5pm at www.worldrugby.com/awards/toty to determine the winner of the men's and women's try of the year.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Monaco on 24 November.
