THE IRISH women's hockey team drew with Great Britain on Tuesday, meaning the three-game series has ended in a tie.
This comes after Britain won the first game, and Ireland won the second thanks to a late penalty scored by Roisin Upton.
It was Upton who delivered the goods again in what aimed to be the deciding game of the series, but GB's Izzy Petter was on deck to provide the reality check.
However, coach Sean Dancer will surely be happy not losing a series against the reigning Olympic champions, and will be feeling optimistic going into this summer's Games in Tokyo.
And one person who can definitely be excited for the Olympics is the clinical Roisin Upton.
Speaking after the match, she said: "Immediate response is disappointment to the third game, the opportunity was there to win it by a couple. But in general, it’s been a fantastic four days, and we’ll take a lot of confidence into whatever comes next.
"We’ve been training hard over the last eight months after we came out of lockdown in September, so it’s been great to have these games to get tested against the best.
"They’re the reigning Olympic Champions and we’ve got three fantastic games in the bag now that we can reflect on and look back on. There’ll be a lot of take away, it’s been a good four days."
Roll on the summer!
