FANS gathered on the 16th hole of the Phoenix Open this weekend were treated to the most Irish treat ever courtesy of Offaly golfer Shane Lowry.
It is common for golfers to hand out gifts to the assembled crowd at the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale, but the 29-year-old crowd-pleaser went above and beyond after giving out cans of Guinness to locals.
Over 200,000 spectators were at the course in Phoenix, Arizona to catch the action, but only fans at the very front were lucky enough to get their hands on Lowry’s special treat as he finished off his third round.
Lowry enjoyed a fruitful day as he carded six birdies and clearly showed his spirits were high as he showed up at the 16th – nicknamed The Coliseum – with his goody bag prepared.

Lowry moved to 10 under at with a third round 66 and sits within touching distance of the leaders in joint 12th place following four birdies on the bounce.
"Yeah, it was good, the best I played in a long time," Lowry said after the round.
"I feel like I should have been a lot better. I think I had four putts I missed inside four feet, and three of them were for birdie so it was one of those days where I’m really happy with my score.

“I think I have a chance going into tomorrow but it could have been better."
Lowry ended up with a top 20 finish in Phoenix after finishing his tournament with a round of 71 – netting himself a cool $90,000 (£72,000) in the process.
Aptly enough, Lowry revealed that the next round’s on him after he tweeted that fans hadn’t seen the last of his Guinness goody bag.
