Irish former Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth retires from racing

LEGENDARY Irish race horse Bobs Worth has been retired from the sport after a long and fruitful career.

A magnificent servant to Nicky Henderson, Bobs Worth’s total prize money was £726,123, with his biggest win coming in the 2013 Gold Cup at Cheltenham Festival.

Indeed, the 11-year-old is one of very few breeds to have won three different races in successive years at Cheltenham Festival.

He won the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle in 2011 and followed that up with RSA Chase in 2012, before the career-defining Gold Cup success 12 months later.

Nine of Bobs Worth’s 11 wins from 22 starts came with Irish jockey Barry Geraghty in the saddle and Saturday's spectators at Sandown will get the chance to bid farewell to Bobs Worth as he'll be paraded before the crowd.
