CAOIMHIN AGYARKO will not fight on Katie Taylor's undercard this month after the Belfast native picked up a hand injury.

Taylor is aiming to defend her title at Wembley Arena on 29 October against Argentinian Karen Elizabeth Carabajal, but the night will not include Agyarko for reasons said above.

Agyarko has a 100% record in boxing so far and was set to face undefeated American fighter Peter Dobson

The 25-year--old had hoped to fight but has now been recommended to recover.

"It’s with huge disappointment and frustration that I have to announce I’ve had to withdraw from my fight next Saturday in London," said Agyarko, writing on Twitter.

"I sustained some damage to my hand in camp that continued to deteriorate to the point where I’ve been unable to use it at all.

"My coach made the decision last night to withdraw me from the contest and I reluctantly agreed with this.

"I was willing to fight, but after meeting with my coach and manager today, as a team they have decided that it is the best course of action," continued Agyarko, who is part of Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom stable.

The middleweight has also offered to refund anyone who bought tickets from him to contact him directly.

"For my travelling fans I want to apologise for this setback and short notice withdrawal. If you wish to apply for a refund and have bought tickets from me, please send me a direct message on Instagram.

"I'd strongly encourage you to still go to the show to support Katie Taylor, my friend Gary Cully and my gym stablemate Thomas Whittaker Hart who are all on the card. I will be getting a scan on my hand asap and look forward to returning to the ring early in 2023."
