Ireland's Ogbene could move to Fenerbahce

ACCORDING TO A REPORT BY THE SUN, Ireland's Chiedozie Ogbene could soon swap Rotherham United for Fenerbahce.

The Ireland winger has scored 4 goals for Ireland since making his debut against Andorra in 2021, and has since gone on to play 15-times for his country.

Ogbene recently was the Man of the Match in Ireland's 1-0 defeat to France in the opening game of their European qualifying group.

His impressive display against Les Bleus' has not gone unoticed.

The Ireland and Rotherham winger's current club deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and it has been rumored that Ogbene's time in the Championship is coming to an end.

A number of clubs in England, like Middlesbrough, Swansea City, and Millwall, have all shown interest in the Ireland star. Club Brugge is also said to be interested in his services.

However, there has also been foreign interest from the likes of Turkey.

According to a report by The Sun, Fenerbahce club representatives were in the Aviva Stadium last week to catch a glimpse of Ogbene in action.

They also report that his display against France has 'firmed up the club’s interest',

Speaking about his future back in February, Ogbene said to the BBC:

“Playing for this club means a lot to me. The gaffer sat me down and said I’m trying too hard, so tonight was special. I really want to do well for this club.

“Sometimes when you try too hard, you do damage. I had to try not to worry too much about things. We are all human beings.”

Ogbene went on to say: “I would like to say it didn’t, but I’m a human being, so I’m sure it did.

“Sometimes when you’re at home, not playing well, you start questioning yourself. The uncertainty of your future can play on your mind…

“I hadn’t played well for a couple of games, but I’m hoping the performances show I really want to be here and care for the club.”

A move to Turkey could be an interesting move for the Cork-native. If Ogbene does make the move to Istanbul, he will be playing regular European football with the likes of Enner Valencia and Michy Batshuayi.

Let's wait and see what happens.
