Ireland scrum-half Kathryn Dane revealed that she suffered a brain haemorrhage at Ireland training last year

Irish international Kathryn Dane has revealed that she suffered a brain haemorrhage during a training session with Ireland last year

The Ulster scrumhalf made her Ireland debut in 2019 and has played 29 times for her country.

The physiotherapist also plays for Old Belvedere.

Revealing the extent of the injury, Dane thanked the IRFU for acting quickly at the time, "Three months ago I suffered a brain haemorrhage at Ireland training," said the 26-year-old Ulster player.

"Luckily the IRFU medical team were close at hand to respond immediately and get me the care I needed.

"Thank you to the IRFU, Connolly and Beaumont hospitals, Rugby Players Ireland and my family and friends for the love and support.

"I hope to make a full recovery and return to work and rugby, but it will take some time. For now, I will be Ireland's biggest fan," added Dane.

"We're all behind you as you make your way back to full health, Kathryn Dane, we hope to see you back in a green jersey again soon!" the IRFU tweeted.

The IRFU responded to the tweet and said, "We're all behind you as you make your way back to full health, @KathrynDane2, we hope to see you back in a green jersey again soon!
