Horgan inspires Cork comeback

Patrick Horgan's added another remarkable scoring spree to his spring collection when hitting 17 points in Cork's dramatic 1-27 to 2-23 Allianz Hurling League semi-final success over Dublin at Nowlan Park on Sunday.

Jimmy Barry Murphy's side trailed by 12 points after 18 minutes, but responded with Horgan immense throughout.

Goals from David O'Callaghan and Mark Schutte ensured Dublin led by 2-15 to 0-12 at the interval before Cork's impressive rally.

A couple of long range points from Aidan Walsh gave Cork hope and then Paudie O'Sullivan grabbed a fine goal.

In the closing stages Conor Lehane and Seamus Harnedy completed the comeback with two excellent points as Cork claimed a narrow victory.

Derek McGrath's rapidly improving Waterford caused a mild surprise when defeating Tipperary 1-19 to 2-15.

Pauric Mahony struck 13 points for Waterford, who stayed cool under pressure in the closing stages.

Early goals from Patrick 'Bonner' Maher and John 'Bubbles' O'Dwyer gave Tipp a healthy lead, but Waterford were defiant.

With Maurice Shanahan and Mahony prominent Waterford delivered a great second half display to book a May 3 League final clash with Cork.
