Henry de Bromhead has said that the support in the wake of his son Jack de Bromhead's death has been 'unbelievable'

IRISH HORSE TRAINER Henry de Bromhead has thanked the public for their 'unbelievable' support after the tragic passing of his 13-year-old son Jack de Bromhead earlier this year.

Jack de Bromhead was riding a pony during a beach race in the Glenbeigh Festival in Kerry back in September. A freak accident at the event meant that the teenager lost his life.

De Bromhead senior spoke to Ruby Walsh on Racing TV and claimed that the publics support was 'unbelievable'

"With Jack and everything, we've had a pretty tough time," he said.

"Firstly, your tribute to him was incredible, it blew us away at Leopardstown - and seeing everyone there was amazing.

"We've had a lot of tough weeks but the support from our family, friends and this industry - especially our industry - has been unbelievable."

"Heather, Georgia, Mia and myself have been blown away by it.

"Every bit of support we get gives us a little bit of strength and we feel incredibly lucky to have everyone around us."

Interviewee Ruby Walsh added: "It's great to see you back at a racecourse, and I speak for everyone when I say we are all behind you."

A host of people reacted to the clip in a positive light and praised Henry de Bromhead's for his courage and bravery after the horrific events.

One Twitter user said: "The man is all class, absolutely devastating what happened, good to see him back on a racecourse"

Another added: "Strength, humility and class. It’s so easy to sweat the small stuff, stuff that let's be honest - really does not matter."

While another user said: "Emotional & powerful interview. What a strong and dignified man."
