Hartson thinks Norwich are 'taking the mick' over Adam Idah fee

Former Celtic player John Hartson believes that Norwich City are taking the mickey with the fee they want for Adam Idah.

Idah joined Celtic from the Championship club on loan last January and scored nine goals on their way to another Scottish League title.

Celtic fans have warmed to Idah and want the young Irish striker to stay in Glasgow. However, Celtic bid for his services, but Norwich have rebuffed the only offer so far and are holding out for about £8 million.

Celtic's main goal threats, Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley, are still at the club, but that may not be the case come the close of the current transfer window.

Hartson believes that his old club needs more options going into the new season.

"I would like another centre forward in; I don't want to get the window out of the way and still only have Kyogo. I think they're on the lookout for one, but they're dragging their heels with Idah at the moment; I don't know what's happening," the Welshman told Go Radio this week.

"I hope the club doesn't think they've got enough domestically. Because they have enough domestically, but I'd like to see Brendan Rodgers bring in some quality to add to the quality they already have. In the Champions League, you need that quality."

Hartson adds that Norwich are not playing fair at the moment and are being cheeky in asking for more money, even though they played him less than Celtic did last season.

"I'm a little bit aggrieved with Norwich because he wasn't in the team; he was on the bench. Celtic gave him a platform to make a name for himself and gave him game time, which he wasn't getting a lot of at Norwich. Now he's done really well; you half expect it because clubs get as greedy as they can and try to get as much out of the players as they can.

"But to be asking reportedly £6.5/7/8 million, and he's only been playing regularly for six months—I know it's business, but I'm a little bit aggrieved by that. I think they're taking the mick a bit."
