IRELAND AND SOUTHAMPTON shot stopper Gavin Bazunu believes that the Saint's huge win over Manchester City in the EFL cup on Wednesday is massive.
Southampton stunned the Premier League champions by winning 2-0 on a night where many expected City to sail through to the semi-finals of the League Cup.
First half goals from firstly Sekou Mara and secondly Moussa Djenepo at St Mary’s meant that for the first time in 16 domestic cup quarter-finals, Guardiola lost a cup tie.
One of the players on the night was Ireland's Bazunu, who didn't have a lot to do.
Speaking to the media after the game, the Southampton keeper said: "It’s massive. It’s not just me, it’s the whole team. We’ve worked so hard since the new manager’s come in on defending the box and being hard to beat. He (James Ward-Prowse) says it all the time, "we need to be a hard team to play against."
“When you work on defending, these results will come."
“What we’ve been working on the past few weeks, the players in front of me have been absolutely amazing…
“Coming off the last two results I think we can take a lot of positivity, and bring this momentum into the game on Saturday.”

City boss Guardiola also added his take on the night and claimed that his side ultimately good enough on the night
“The better team won. We didn’t play well. There are many games you can start not good and overcome but we didn’t do it,” he said.
“When you are not prepared to play this game you arrive one inch late and don’t score a goal. When you are prepared you score the goal.
“Today was a bad night, the opponent was better so we have to congratulate them. We didn’t deserve to win.”
Attentions now turn back to the Premier League, where City take on Manchester United at 12.30 on Saturday
Southampton take on Everton at 3pm the same day.
