PAUL GALVIN made a dramatic return to Kerry training on Tuesday evening.
In a statement released on the Kerry GAA website manager Eamon Fitzmaurice confirmed that the Finuge star, who announced his retirement in February 2014, is back in the All Ireland champions’ panel.
“Paul Galvin has re-joined the Kerry Senior Football squad and resumed training this evening,” the brief bulletin said.
Galvin was a key performer on Kerry teams which claimed Sam Maguire in 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2009. He has also won seven Munster senior titles and three Allianz Football League medals and former colleague Tomas O’Se is adamant that his comeback is a positive development for Kerry.
In an Irish Independent column O’Se wrote: “One question has to be addressed first in assessing Paul Galvin's return to the Kerry squad last night. Is he one of the best 25 footballers in the county right now?
“To me the answer is a definitive yes. So to my mind his comeback after more than a year away is not a gamble even though the media are likely to portray it as one. There isn't a mentally stronger footballer I know to take on this challenge.”
