A TALENTED GAA footballer is fighting for his life having been placed on a life support machine after contracting meningitis.
Aaron Devlin, who has represented Derry and plays his club football for Ballinderry Shamrocks, was omitted to hospital two days after playing a challenge match on Friday.
The 22-year-old, who was also a member of the University of Ulster Jordanstown panel, played 40 minutes of the game but was withdrawn following complaints of fatigue.
The University of Ulster Jordanstown GAA took to their Facebook page to say: “Could we ask the entire UUJ family to pray for Aaron Devlin. Aaron took a brain virus on Friday. He’s on life support.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron and his family at this sad time.”
Devlin comes from a family with a strong GAA background, with his brothers, Colin and Ronan, having also played for Derry.
